Lego Batman: The Movie: DC Superheroes Unite
Writers: Jon Burton & David A. Goodman
Date: May 21, 2013
Synopsis: "Batman and Robin team up with the Justice League."
Considering how edgy (in a good way) the films in the DC Animated Film Universe are, I find the Lego DC Comics movies to be a nice all ages alternative, and this films starts off the series nicely. The plot involves Lex Luthor running for president in order to one up Batman when the latter revives a "Human Of The Year" award as Bruce Wayne. He breaks The Joker and various other villains out of jail, prompting Batman, Superman, and Robin to spring into action, but the former doesn't want to receive help. I must say that as a film meant to launch a new universe, I can't think of one better than this one. While it hits some expected story beats, it's all in a way that fits the characters and the tone. Batman is The Dark Knight, who's known for being a loner, and as such, he doesn't really like to get help. Considering he still wants to deliver justice to those responsible for ghee wrongdoings, he stays likable throughout the movie. Lex Luthor's plan is probably one of the most cunning ones he's ever done, which fits how much of a mastermind he is. The action is pretty awesome, which compliments the sharp humor and the expected, but well executed moral on asking other people for help. It's a great movie and a great way to start out the film series.
Here is the cast for the movie.
Troy Baker as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Two-Face, Brainiac
Travis Willingham as Clark Kent/Superman
Christopher Corey Smith as Joker
Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor
