"Family Guy Viewer Mail #1" Family Guy 1001 Animations

Date: February 14, 2002

Synopsis: "Brian and Stewie host a special episode of Family Guy, featuring three non-canon stories created from viewer requests."

Writers:
Gene Laufenberg (No Bones About It)
Seth MacFarlane (SuperGriffins)
Michael Shipley & Jim Bernstein (Lil Griffins)

This is definitely an interesting episode. I like the idea behind the episode, and the stories told were well executed. The first story plays around with the idea of magic, and how things can go awry. Peter may not be that bright, but he does try to do the right thing. And with the surgery at the end, it was pretty nice of everyone else to help out. The second story had many funny moments. It was interesting to see how the Griffins would use their superpowers in everyday life. With Adam West hurt, they realize they went too far, and try to fix it. I like that, and I bet Seth MacFarlane was having a field day with this segment. The third one reminds me of Rugrats for some reason. Anyway, the competition itself is fun to watch, with plenty of good jokes, and a weird, but pretty good ending. I heard Family Guy did this again 10 years later. I'll have to see that one to see how it is, but as for this one, it's definitely a good episode.

Fun fact. This was the first Family Guy episode to not feature any cutaway gags.
